About Medicine Bow Lodge Guest Ranch

About our Horses

Welcome to Medicine Bow Lodge & Adventure Guest Ranch!

Debbie and Tim Bishop bought Medicine Bow Lodge in 2002. Located in the heart of Medicine Bow
National Forest, is not only stunning with a rustic flair, but it is also rich in history. The original lodge was built in
early 1917. The original kitchen and dining room is still intact and functioning for Chef Debbie to serve
our guests homemade, delicious meals.

Medicine Bow Lodge operates as a guest dude ranch during late spring, summer, and fall. The ranch is
known for its diverse horseback riding program. Tim, along with his staff of handpicked wranglers go
out of their way to make certain the young, and young at heart feel confident and comfortable in the
saddle. The trails take you through the pristine snowy range mountains and meadows giving you
breathtaking views wherever you look. All our guests are welcome to learn and participate in the care of
the horses. They can learn to groom, oil the saddle, saddle and feed their horse while staying here.
Medicine Bow Lodge & Adventure Guest Ranch is an all-inclusive ranch, with all activities and meals
included in your stay. Along with our horseback riding program, there are many activities for you and
your family to enjoy. We offer guided hiking and fishing excursions, canoeing, archery, roping 101,
horseshoe pit, target shooting and much more! Every evening you can sit by the campfire and have
some S’mores – who doesn’t love S’mores!

It is Debbie and Tim’s wish that you have an opportunity to let their professional, and friendly staff
serve you well. It is our every intention that you relax, unplug and reconnect with your loved ones in this
serenely beautiful environment. So – are you ready for an adventure that you and your family will never
forget?

In 1917, Medicine Bow Lodge first opened near Saratoga, Wyoming. We are proud to share great mountain views, rushing streams, towering fir trees and a true Old West experience for visitors to this beautiful part of our state. Fishing, hiking, horseback riding and evening campfires are among the memorable activities at the family-owned Lodge.

Guests may choose to arrange for overnight horseback pack trips in the mountains or visit scenic or historic sites in the Medicine Bow National Forest. In the nearby towns of Saratoga, Encampment and Savery there are museums, art galleries and shopping venues reflecting the flavour of this special locale. Also, in Saratoga are the natural springs at the famous Hot Pool, open year-round.

The recently refurbished Lodge features vintage log walls, comfortable furnishings, a huge stone fireplace and space for games, entertainment and dancing as well as Internet access. As many as thirty guests can enjoy all amenities and three delicious home-cooked meals are served daily each day in the Lodge dining room. Carefully selected fresh produce, meats and seafood are complemented by bread and desserts prepared from treasured family recipes. Cosy cabins are rustic but welcoming and activities for young folks are offered for outdoor fun and arts and crafts. The timeless style of the west is reflected by the courteous and competent staff that assist with all aspects of the Medicine Bow Lodge experience.

A deck overlooking the creek invites artists or readers to enjoy the peaceful surroundings in the pristine mountain air. Winter visitors may be hunters, snowmobilers, cross country skiers, or downhill skiers who return to the warmth of the Lodge after a day of exertion and excitement.

There is something for everyone at Medicine Bow Lodge. Convinced that everyone will leave here with a fondness for this timeless place, and many stories to tell others. We hope you’ll come and join us for your vacation and experience what many others have called “The Ride of a Lifetime”.
